SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

• Gil Mayer's 4,350 minutes played was the highest in the AHL and his 2.40 GAA was the lowest.
• Mayer became the second Hornets' goaltender to win the Harry "Hap" Homes Award. (Baz Bastien won it twice).
• The Hornets broke several AHL playoff records:
- Most goals scored in a seven game series (54)
- Highest points scored in one game (Ray Hanningan, 6)
- Most assists in one series (Rudy Migay, 7)
- Largest number of goals scored in a three-game series (Pittsburgh outscored Springfield, 22-2)
• Bob Solinger named MVP of playoffs with ten goals and six assists.
• Lost the Calder Cup series in seven games to the Cleveland Barons.
• Mayer and Pete Beckor were selected to the AHL All-Star team. |
