• Baz Bastien took over as coach for the second time in his career.

• Larry Cahan's 179 penalty minutes led the AHL.

• Gil Mayer won his second consecutive Harry "Hap" Holmes Award - the third in his career - for being the AHL's top goaltender.

• Mayer, Frank Mathers and Danny Lewicki represented Pittsburgh as All-Stars.
