Briere put this puck past Oakland's Gary Smith for Pittsburgh's first-ever overtime goal and secured the Penguins first playoff series win.
On November 1, 1969, Pittsburgh's rookie center Michel Briere scored his first NHL goal by beating Minnesota North Stars' goaltender Ken Broderick at the 15:15 mark of the third period.
Briere was set up by Ken Schinkel and Bob Woytowich. Schikel would collect the milestone puck from the back of the net to present to Briere on the ice at the Civic Arena.
Briere, selected 26th overall in the 1969 amateur draft, played 76 regular season games in his rookie season finishing with 12 goals and 32 assists.
Briere netted the first overtime goal in franchise history on April 12, 1970. Briere scored the game-winner - and series clincher - at 8:28 of the first overtime period against the Oakland Seals in front of 3,028 fans at the Oakland Coliseum.
The sweep of the Seals was the first playoff series victory for the Penguins who would fall to the St.Louis Blues in the second round.
