Evgeni Malkin scored two big goals to give Pittsburgh a two-goal lead, after Sidney Crosby tied it, and the Penguins played a strong defense to hold a 4-2 victory over cross-state rival Philadelphia in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Mike Richards scored twice for the Flyers and Petr Sykora scored the first Penguins' goal while Marc-Andre Fleury had 26 saves en route to his ninth playoff win.

Tickets for the Winter Classic sold out in 30 minutes.
