Penguins' goaltender who on April 7, 1974, in a game against the Atlanta Flames, became the last NHL goaltender to play a game without a mask.
The Penguins deposited five pucks into the goal in 2:07. Bryan Hextall, Jean Pronovost, Al McDonough, Ken Schinkel & Ron Schock each scored in a 10-4 win against St. Louis on November 22, 1972. That is still an NHL record for the five fastest goals.
1973-74 Pittsburgh Penguins Goal Puck

Syl Apps scored a powerplay goal with this puck on Febraury 16, 1974 against the California Golden Seals. It was Pittsburgh's 156th goal of the season.

For two seasons the NHL collected goal pucks, labled them and sold them to the public.

Both front and back had rubber inlayed crests.
